Sony Ericsson W580i

This is a great, little phone that’s gotten a lot of attention. The features packed in are incredible. Battery life has been great. It’s been over 2 days with me fiddling around with the phone and it’s still at more than 50% battery. The internet is a little slow, so you wouldn’t want to use this phone primarily for that. The camera is pretty good, but it really needs a flash. I’ve seen an older Sony phone that looks very similar to this phone, and that phone had a flash. I’m not sure why they would discontinue that, because the older phone had a similar camera and the pictures turned out much better. Even in normal light, it seems like the pictures this phone takes are on the darker side. It’s fine if you’re just going to take a pic and text it to someone, but I’ve just purchase a separate digital camera to take more high quality pics. You plug in the USB cable and treat it like any external harddrive. Sony even makes it easy for you and already has the folders for Music, Video, Ringtones, etc., ready. All you do is click and drop. It does allow for your own MP3 ring tones, as long as they are 35 seconds or less. As far as it being a slider and doing some accidental dialing, all you need to do is put it on lock mode. This phone has a lot of features, but definitely focuses on music and ringtones. If you want a lot of features, I would suggest go for it. As to the issues I’ve read about various people having with this phone (intermittent signal, static, cracking keys, etc), I get a kick out of just playing the songs that came with the phone (AT&T ringtones and such). To be honest, I think I might just use this to replace my iPods (I have the tiny shuffle, 30GB black, and the nano). Also the “shake” to change song feature works quite well. You will love this phone for other features such as playing MP3, FM radio, video clips, games, light effects, etc. In a nutshell, you will not be disappointed. The one thing I hate is the battery cover and its so damn hard to take it out. Make sure you take a note of the battery model number, IMEI number etc written in the battery compartment so you dont need to open that again and again. Thats the most annoying thing with this phone.
