Troubleshooting
I) Errors running ziPhoneUnlock
ziPhoneUnlock may display an error message and fail to run, or it may hang at the “waiting for phone” steps. If this happens, you should try the following:
1) Make sure iTunes is shut down.
2) Make sure iTunesHelper and any other services or daemons releated to iTunes are not running.
3) Try putting your phone into recovery mode manually (see below).
4) Upgrade to iTunes 7.6 and sync your phone with iTunes before trying ziPhoneUnlock.
5) Reboot your computer.
6) If possible, try another computer.
To enter recovery mode manually:
1) Quit iTunes and close any “helper” daemons.
2) Hold the power button on your phone until the “slide to power off” message appears.
3) Slide to power off and wait for the screen to go completely black.
4) Unplug your phone from the cable or dock.
5) Hold the HOME button on the phone and reconnect it to the cable or dock.
6) Continue holding HOME while the Apple logo appears.
7) Continue holding HOME until the “Connect to iTunes” graphic appears.
Release HOME. You’re now in “Recovery” mode (not to be confused with DFU mode).
9) Try running ziPhoneUnlock again.

II) Problems After Jailbreak
After successfully completing a jailbreak, you may notice some of the
following issues:
* YouTube not available
* No cell access (phone and/or SMS don’t work)
Most of these issues can be fixed by running one or both of the Reset Settings
options in the phone’s settings application.
1) Tap on Settings from the home screen.
2) Choose General
3) Choose Reset (all the way on the bottom)
4) First try “Reset Network Settings”
The phone will reboot. If things still aren’t working, go back and try “Reset All Settings”.
* Visual Voicemail doesn’t work (official carriers only)
To fix Visual Voice mail, launch the Phone application and click Voicemail. It
will probably try to call into the voicemail phone number. If it doesn’t tap
the button to make it call. Let the call complete and check your voicemail.
End the call, wait a minute or two, then try visual voicemail again. You should
be prompted to enter your voicemaill password and Visual Voicemail will work
after that. Some have had luck by changing their password during the phone call or
rebooting afterwards. Of course, Visual Voicemail ONLY works with official
iPhone carriers, so if you’re using an unlocked phone with another SIM, this
won’t work no matter what you do.
III) Starting Over
If none of the above helped, it may be necessary to restore your phone to a
completely clean state before trying again. To do this, perform a
“DFU Restore” as follows:
A) The Easy Way:
1) Shutdown iTunes and connect the phone.
2) Run ziPhoneUnlock.
3) Your phone will show the “Connect to iTunes” screen.
4) iTunes should be able to restore 1.1.4 firmware to your phone.
Note that this isn’t “full” hardware DFU mode, but it should be adequate
to install a current firmware with iTunes.
If you enter this mode by mistake, ziPhoneUnlock should reboot normally.
B) Full Hardware DFU (required for downgrades):
Note that using a cable instead of the dock may make it easier to press
buttons in the following steps without losing the connection.
1) Start iTunes and plug the phone in.
2) With the phone powered on, hold both the POWER and HOME buttons for
seven seconds. The screen should turn black.
3) Wait two seconds while the screen is black and release the POWER button
while still holding the HOME button.
4) The screen will remain black, but after a few more seconds iTunes will
detect the phone in recovery mode.
5) Release the HOME button and proceed to restore firmware with iTunes.
Timing is fairly important on this. If your phone reboots or ends up in
recovery mode, just try again. You might want to look at a clock that shows
seconds while you do this. The timing needs to be exact for it to work.
If you enter this mode by mistake, hold the HOME and POWER buttons for
seven seconds until you see the Apple logo and immediately release both
buttons. The phone should reboot normally, assuming a valid firmware image is present on the phone.
Unzipping a file (or program)
The files you’ve downloaded need to be unzipped, which means opening the file and taking the contents to a different location, such as your desktop. Most computers do unzip files without needing additional applications, however if unable, you may want to make use of the following program: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
In Windows Cannot Change ”.ipsw.zip” to just ”.ipsw” even after renaming it.
Make sure you don’t have the ”hide extensions for known file types” checked in folder view options. Open a folder, then open the Tools Menu at the top, then Folder Options, Then View Tab, and Uncheck ”hide extensions for known file types”
iTunes Unknown Errors (by number)
Error1013 Error1014 Error1015
These error messages occur when you downgrade or upgrade to a different baseband than the firmware restored to. This message DOES NOT mean the restore has failed-it simply means the phone firmware does not match the baseband. Test the device, and if it works then ignore this message. If you don’t have cell phone reception then you will neede to match the firmware with the baseband.
Error 6 or 10
This error message is due to a problem with the downloaded firmware files. The smaller firmware file, larger firmware file, and Device you are restoring do not all match. Download new firmwares that match the device to fix this.
Error 1600 & all Error160X (x=any number)
Solution 1
This error is commonly due to iTunes not approving of the USB port in use on the computer. Use a different USB port or a diffirent computer if possible.
Solution 2
It might have to do with the iTunes version. If iTunes is not current, you need to update it to the latest version.
Solution 3
VISTA: Click Start, copy code below into search box, and press Enter:
XP: Click Start, then Run, then copy the code below to the run box:
Code:
%appdata%Apple ComputeriTunes
OSX: browse to /Library/iTunes/Device Support/
delete the folder called ”Device Support” if you see it. Create a new directory called ”Device Support” and copy the downloaded x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw into the ”Device Support” folder you’ve just created.
Also make sure that the file you tried downloading in step 5 matches the file on your computer in Step 5. You might need to copy and paste the link rather then click it.

Error 1601 or 1602 when restoring iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes
Error 1604 When restoring iPhone in iTunes
Unkown error (0xE8000022)
You will most likeky hit this error as a sync-ing problem. ”iTunes could not connect to the iPhone ”iPhone” because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000022)”
The real solutin is yet to be discovered, however, here is a temporary workaround:
Kills ”iTunesHelper.exe” background service.
It seems that something in the background is preventing your device from getting connected. Try killing all background services that have the word ”iPod”, ”iTunes”,”iPhone” or ”Apple” in them. Then re-launching iTunes.
Re-install iTunes
If you can’t connect to the device, probably it has something to do with iTunes.
Restore your iPhone(which definetely helps in any situation)
Unknown Error(1)
Put your iPhone in DFU mode. It is all about timing. Never be dissappointed, and try again until successful. If you see the boot image, you held the home button too long, and if it doesn’t go into DFU after 20 seconds of holding, this implies that you did not wait long enough to let go of the power button.

Solution 1
Open iTunes, then go to help, then click on check for updates. ITunes needs to be updated to the latest version.
When upgrading finishes, unplug the device from the computer, and restart both the device and the computer. To restart the device sure you hold down the poer button on the device until it says ‘’slide to power off”. Then let it stay off for 30 seconds before turning back on. If the device does not show a boot screen or require waiting to turn on, than it was not turned off. You should NOT instantly see the ‘’slide to unlock” screen when you first touch the power or home button on a device that was turned off.
Unplug the USB cable and plug it to a different port.
Open iTunes, wait for it to recognize the iPhone, and click on ”Restore” button to restore it.
When iTunes finished the restore, repeat the solution steps from the beginning. If you still get the error, try solution 2 below:
Solution 2
This error shows up unexpectedly even when the right file is selected with the correct .ISPW extension. To solve this, we’ll take some steps and then download larger firmware file again. Clear the Cache for your Internet browser. If you need help, your browser’s help menu will show you the steps. Clean the Internet Explorer Cache, Firefox Cache or Safari Cache. Then download the larger firmware file again. Make sure you make the correct choice for your iPhone and verify the correct file is downloaded with the correct .IPSW extension at the end.To test and make sure thiþs file is downloading please do the following:
Step1: Copy the larger firmware to create a duplicate file(Copy and Paste, it will probably make a new file that begins with ”copy of…”)
Step2: Change the extension of this duplicate file from .ISPW into a .ZIP file. Simply rename the .ISPW into .ZIP If you have problems with making it a .ZIP, please read the section an renaming.
Step 3: Try unzipping it (as how you ususally unzip files by moving items inside the file to the outside) If it unzips successfuly than the downloaded file is good and not a corrupted file. If it does not unzip, you need to repeat this process to get a good download.
Solution 3
1. VISTA: Click Start, copy code below into the search box, and press Enter:
XP: Click Start, then Run, then copy the code below into the run box:
Code:
%appdata%Apple ComputeriTunes
OSX: Browse to LibraryiTunes
2. Open the ……Software Updates folder and delete all files inside.
3. Move the larger firmware file you downloaded into this directory.
4. Now, when doing the Option + Restore or Shift + Restore in iTunes, go to THIS EXACT folder and choose the larger firmware.
Error (unknown number)
When and if you get an error without a number or type, it is probably because of iTunes. We suggest restarting the computer, using a different computer or reinstalling iTunes to the latest version.
