Palm Pre The Real iPhone Killer
Palm has not released a new phone model since the various Treos that have been released since 2007.
Palm’s Pre smartphone is the latest device trying to knock the iPhone off its perch, following in the footsteps of the Samsung Instinct, the BlackBerry Storm and the HTC G1.
There are reasons to call this Pre as an iPhone killer:
1) The Interface: The Pre classes applications as “activity cards”, and lets you flip through them by simply swiping your finger. When you want to close an application, you can just flick it off the screen. Applications can also remain running in the background even when they are minimised. The Palm Pre’s home screen also includes a handy notifications bar at the bottom of the screen. Incoming text messages, new e-mails and calendar appointments appear as notifications in this bar.
2) OS: The webOS a Linux based operating system and is intuitive, easy to use and visually appealing, webOS interface allows you to keep multiple applications open and move easily between them. webOS will also be able to receive software updates, and all of these upgrades will be done over the air.
3) Keyboard: A physical keyboard along with touch screen is a small but major advantage over iPhone as tapping a screen is no match for a physical keyboard.
4) Applications: Palm announced that it’s expanding access to its Mojo SDK, the coding toolkit for building Pre- and WebOS-compatible apps, to a wider circle of developers. Some upcoming WebOS apps for the Pre, include one from Fandango that lets you browse current movies, watch previews, and buy tickets—the twist being that on the Pre, Fandango automatically finds nearby theaters via GPS and adds showtimes for any tickets you’ve bought onto the Pre’s calendar.
5) Design: The phone lives up to the hype: it’s a compact device that has smaller dimensions than many popular smart phones and its curved casing gives it a stylishness that the more brick-shaped smartphones lack. Additionally, the device’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard gives users more screen space to look at when they’re typing.

many phones have been claimed as iphone killer but in the end iphone turn out as the winner so palm pre will also remain as second to iphone.
iphone is not just a cellphone it is a cult so to defeat iphone palm has to create a cult of its own.
