Microsoft Kumo Vs Google

21 May 2009 No Comment

Microsoft’s Kumo search engine is set to launch on may 25th and will compete with Google as well as Yahoo’s search engine. Microsoft’s old search engine, Windows Live Search, has been unable to gain ground against Google, despite innovative schemes like “Microsoft Service Credits for Web Search”, SearchPerks, and Live Search cash back. Microsoft is even planning a rebranding of Kumo before launch and rename Kumo to Bling.
Unlike google, Kumo will organize search results into sub-categories, this will result in faster searches, sparing the community from having to sort on their own through pages of ungrouped hyperlinks.
Google search have its weak points like they are vulnerable in regards to the government’s antitrust efforts and has some vulnerability when it comes to real-time search. Google’s biggest vulnerability is the enormous volume of results it provides, which can overwhelm users and Microsoft can beat google if it can make search easier by providing something like page preview of results.
