Palm Eos for $99 Sure To Knock Em Off

A smaller version of Palm Pre named as Palm Eos is coming as early as Q4 2009 and with it features and price combination will give a tough fight to mighty ones like iPhone and BlackBerry. The phone will supposedly be an astounding 10.6mm thin, will measure just 55mm x 111mm (about 2.1 by 4.3-inches), weigh 100 grams, and will tout a 2.63-inch, 320 x 400 capacitive display.
Palm hasn’t commented about Eos but Palm Eos is likely to debut on the AT&T network, says Engadget. Palm Eos will run webOS, the new operating system first shown on the Palm Pre earlier this year.
The candy bar style Eos will be slim (about 10.6 mm thick) and will have a 2.63-inch display. It will also be a quadband GSM/HSDPA phone with 4GB storage and a 2 megapixel camera. Without the slide-out keyboard of the Pre, the Eos looks similar to the BlackBerry Bold. The pre-rebate pricing on the Eos seems high for now but if Palm can work with the telecom carrier to bring that down for consumers, it may have a worthy successor to its inexpensive and successful Centro smartphone.
