Android 2.0 With CDMA And Multitouch: Intensions Please?

Google is really serious about its mobile venture and with the launch of latest Android 2.0 it is making the developers exited. The update still isn’t ready to release, but if one can download the ROM here.
Among the key changes in Android OS 2.0 Donut are much improved speed and performance, universal search, automated backups and gesture support. There’s also full universal search across all applications, together with WPA Enterprise encryption and VPN support. According to Engadget, the release not only has most of the long-awaited features demoed at Google I/O, but developers are actively taking key Android 2.0 elements and placing them into stable Android 1.5 builds.
It seems Google and HTC have been thinking along the same lines, too, as one of the most visible changes is the connectivity bar in the above screenshot, which allows for one-touch homescreen control over WiFi, Bluetooth and other connections.
Features:
- Text-to-speech
- Gesture support
- Universal search
- Automated backups
- Multi-touch support
- New camera app
- CDMA radio support
- 5-in-1 toggle switch for home screen use that can help manage Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity among other user set options
Donut has actually been shown off operating on the T-Mobile G1, albeit in a very “crash friendly” state. No word yet on an official release date. Once again, this version is a developer release, so it’s unstable. Unless you know what you’re doing and are comfortable with a crashing mobile OS, we highly suggest waiting for stable releases.
