This time Jailbreaking your iPhone 3GS is much easier and need no hacker know hows and all credit goes to our very own George Hotz famous as Geohot. The tool from Geohot is named Purplera1n and good thing about this one is that you can do entire process fast and easy without too much technical knowledge.
Geohot was the original iPhone jailbreaker which he did as a 17-year old and now debuting Purplera1n on 3rd July he has already updated this to version RC2. Changes include support for Windows 7 and 64-bit systems, enhanced payload execution, kernal patches, correction of terminal errors and more.
Requirements:

• The latest hack is currently available for Windows XP and Vista users only
• The latest iTunes must be installed
• iPhone 3GS must have 3.0 firmware

Missing:

• No Mac support but promised in future release
• Not for iPhone 3GS with firmware 3.1

Holtz cautions that purplera1n is in beta and recommends a full backup of the phone is made before running the software. The instruction on his website states “Connect your iPhone normally. Click ‘make it ra1n.’ Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app.” This will allow iPhone 3GS users to install any application directly onto their device, including those not sanctioned by Apple, but it won’t free you from your current carrier. The ultrasn0w tool should take care of that.

Instructions for Jailbreaking:

1. On Windows PC Install iTunes
2. Download purplera1n
3. Run purplera1n
4. Wait
5. Run Freeze
6. Reboot

After Reboot your iPhone is Jailbroken and in order to run OpenSSH to have to install OpenSSH package in Cydia and ssh to your iPhone with root/alpine login/pass combination.
