Nokia-Surge

Nokia’s latest smartphone Nokia Surge is the third smartphone for AT&T within last 12 months and unlike E71x this time Nokia has decided that it will not launch any unlocked versions of Nokia Surge.
Nokia Surge is a Symbian powered smartphone designed specifically for young U.S customers who are the majority in social networking crowd. Playing to the young customer Nokia Surge will come preloaded with JuiceCaster, which enables users to share picture and videos from the phone to social networking sites.
Design: Made entirely of black gloss plastic the handset measures 3.8×2.3×0.6 inches and weighs only 4.4 ounces. The Nokia Surge handset is designed to make texting easy as this phone is oriented horizontally with a slide out horizontal QWERTY keyboard which spans the width of the unit.
Nokia Surge’s has a five way control pad and a power button that doubles as End key. The buttons on the side of the phone are nicely placed and a shortcut button for texting is a nice touch.
The Nokia Surge has a 2.4 inch QVGA screen which is sharp but with resolution of 320 pixels by 240 pixels the graphics on this phone is not as good if compared to other smartphones available in the same league.
Camera: Nokia Surge comes with a 2 megapixel camera capable of recording videos on the go but lacks an LED flash and auto focus.
Connectivity: Nokia Surge is a quad band phone and is 3G capable with stereo Bluetooth. As a proper AT&T device, the Nokia Surge features support for the TeleNav-powered AT&T Navigator.
Messaging: The Nokia Surge offers a suite of messaging capabilities (Oz Email 2.8 for personal accounts and Mail for Exchange 2.9) and comes preloaded with JuiceCaster so you can post messages, updates, photos, and more to social networking sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr.
The Nokia Surge can receive some corporate e-mail, as well as messages from Web-based providers like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and others. Users will be able to add new applications and content over the air through Nokia’s Ovi Store. This S60 device support downloadable applications and a full HTML browser with Flash support.
Multimedia: The Surge will be able to play multiple types of audio and video files, and it will come preloaded with AT&T’s Mobile Music and Video Share services for more entertainment options. The Nokia Surge also has a built-in FM radio but non-standard, 2.5mm headphone jack is a big disappointment.
Price: AT&T will sell the Nokia Surge for $79.99 with a two-year service agreement and after a mail-in rebate.
