Samsung T749 Highlight is the latest in the touchscreen series and like previous touchscreen models the T749 is designed around its touchscreen. The phone measures 4.3X2.1X0.5 inches and weighs only 3.7 ounces similar to  Samsung Behold. The plus point for this entry level phone are the 3G suppport for T-Mobile’s 3G network and a high quality camera.

Design: Samsung T749 Highlight comes in two colors, which T-Mobile calls as Ice(turquoise) and Fire(orange). The 3 inch WQVGA touchscreen of Samsung T749 Highlight is very responsive and capable of displaying up to 16 million colors.
With rounder corners and bit sleeker handset the design of Samsung T749 Highlight is different from Samsung’s other mobile phones. The rubberized housing gives very comfortable feel and fits in the pocket easily.
The dialer interface has large alphanumeric buttons with a vibrating feedback which lets you know when you press a control. To type messages user can either use an alphanumeric keypad or a virtual keyboard which can be switched just by rotating the phone.

Camera:
The 3 megapixel camera of Samsung T749 Highlight takes very impressive pictures though it lacks flash which is now a standard for 3 megapixel cameras. The camera of Samsung T749 Highlight support capturing images in four different resolution, starting from 2048X1536 pixels to 400X240 pixels. The other features which makes Samsung T749 Highlight a good camera phone includes smile detection, six “scene” settings (night, landscape, action, and so on), a self-timer, three white balance settings and three modes of shooting which are panoramic, continuous and mosaic.
The video recording on Samsung T749 Highlight supports short 60 sec MMS mode and longer normal recording not meant for MMS. The resolution which video mode supports are either 320X240 or 176X144.

Connectivity:
The Samsung T749 Highlight is a full 3G capable phone and delivers fast data speeds with T-Mobile’s 3G network. The Samsung T749 Highlight offers users with live news feeds with the web2go widget and also gives access to variety of T-Mobile downloads like ringtones, games and wallpaper. The HTML browser is not the perfect one and needs some customization to handle full HTML websites.
Samsung T749 Highlight also has A-GPS with Location Based Services by TeleNav. It also offers instant messaging with AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger, as well as email with AOL, Yahoo!, and all POP3 accounts.

Multimedia:
Samsung T749 Highlight comes with a basic music player with simple and easy interface. The file types which the music player can handle includes MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+. The microSD card slot on Samsung T749 Highlight can hold cards upto 16GB which is enough to hold most of your favorite music and video files.

Price:
The Samsung T749 Highlight is now available for $149.99 with a two-year service agreement and qualifying data plan, and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

    • Average Speakerphone quality.

    Summary
    Though Samsung Equinox has average camera , web qualities and without any email service, the only thing that lets drives you to purchase this phone is its look (flap phone) and its price.
