Sirius XM Satellite Radio announced dock that turns iPhones into satellite radios, allowing iPhone and iPod Touch users to listen premium satellite radio stations.

Powered through a car’s cigarette charger the Dock from XM SkyDock looks little different than an average iPod car charger, but the SkyDock has a satellite tuner built in. Pop in any iPhone or iPod Touch, run the free SkyDock control app, and the Apple handheld is transformed into a touch-screen control for the satellite radio service. It comes with technology that eases installation by tapping into the car’s radio system. It also allows users to flag songs they hear and buy them via Apple’s iTunes software.

The XM SkyDock will charge your iPhone or iPod while in use so after listening to your favorite radio program your iPhone or iPod will pop out of the SkyDock stronger. Unlike the Internet streaming app that came out two months ago, SkyDock is an actual receiver. Subscribers will have access to everything that satellite radio is beaming, including the play-by-play sports and Howard Stern broadcasts.

The XM SkyDock will be available this fall for $120 expected to be sold online and through retailers, including Best Buy and Radio Shack, this fall.
