Verizon Wireless successful scheme of buy one BlackBerry get another free in the past has now changed for good, now offering includes netbooks, PC cards, USB modems or MiFi.

That means new subscribers, or those signing new two-year contracts, can get a free netbook with a BlackBerry Tour smartphone. The Tour costs US$199.99 after Verizon’s rebate, and the least-expensive netbook Verizon sells is the HP Mini 1151 NR, also priced at $199.99. Those customers could also get any USB, PC Card or ExpressCard modem the carrier offers.

Perhaps the one drawback is that you have to front the cash for the second device at the register, and then wait for a rebate. Verizon typically turns rebates around pretty quickly, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long to be reimbursed.

The carrier has been aggressive in its pricing of late. Earlier this month, Verizon cut the price of most of its existing smartphones to $99 or less when customers sign a two-year contract.
