The Wikimedia Foundation today has launched the official Wikipedia Mobile application for iPhone. The Wiki app for iPhone will give users quick and easy access to the vast resource of information for free.

The Wikipedia Mobile app for iPhone is only of 1.6 MB and in current version is little more than a wrapper for the mobile version of the Wikipedia site. The Wikipedia Foundation seems to be aware of the simplicity of the app and is expected to release a more full featured version of the app soon.

Currently there are more than 100 Wikipedia apps available but the one released by the the Wikipedia Foundation is the official app.
