Free Wifi From Google Ebay And Microsoft Is Not Genorosity

Google Inc. announced Tuesday that it will temporarily provide free Wi-Fi access in 47 U.S. airports through Jan. 15. As some news sites are portraying this act of Google as genorisity but Google’s seemingly altruistic offer should pay big dividends at a time the company could use some goodwill.
Providing free airport Wi-Fi will help Google build up some goodwill among consumers at a time when its reputation could use a little burnishing. Google has long been a big proponent of high-speed, wireless Internet access, lobbying in Washington D.C. to open up a government auction of licenses to provide wireless services to other companies beyond the mainstream broadband service companies.
To remain competitive EBay Inc will also provide free wifi on some delta planes during the thanksgiving week. However, viewers will be first taken to an Ebay holiday page; just in case they have forgotten to buy a gift for their loved ones.
Microsoft has its own free Wi-Fi plan through a partnership with JiWire. The companies have been offering free Internet access at North American airports and hotels in exchange for a consumer conducting a single search on Bing, Microsoft’s revamped search engine.
