As on the Droid, Google Maps Navigation is now available for free for mobile devices running Android 1.6 and higher that includes T-Mobile’s G1 and myTouch 3G.

The app still needs work and it’s still in beta but it’s the first completely free GPS app with voice prompts. As on the Droid, Google Maps Navigation offers voice guidance, automatic reroutes, plus several standout features including 3D satellite views en route.

Old Android 1.5 devices like the HTC Hero, Samsung Behold II, and Motorola CLIQ are still out of the luck for the time being. Motorola has not said whether it will upgrade Cliq to 1.6 or 2.0 in the future.

To download the free Google Navigation for your Android 1.6 or higher devices, you can find Google Maps Navigation in the Android Marketplace.
