Saygus Two Way Video Calling Android Phone For Verizon Is Not Droid

Saygus, an Utah-based firm that specializes in video-calling software has announced its Android based handset, called the VPhone or V1, is also Verizon’s first Open Development initiative handset.
The VPhone or V1 will be the only two-way video-calling phone in the U.S when it will hit the market early next year. This upcoming smartphone with the slider mechanism will resemble both the Motorola Droid and the Nokia N900.
Aside from the video sharing feature, perhaps the phone’s most impressive capability is that it will act as a Wi-Fi router. This means it will connect to Verizon’s 3G network, and then allow a laptop to tether to the VPhone via Wi-Fi rather than a cable. In other words, it will act similar to the Novatel MiFi.
The main features of Saygus VPhone or V1 includes:
- The device comes with Android 1.6 aka Donut loaded on it
- The VPhone UI with seven active screens looks a lot like HTC’s Sense UI
- Two-Way Video Calling with facility of Streaming Movies, Concerts and TV Episodes
- Slide-out 4-row QWERTY keyboard
- 624 MHz Processor
- 800×480 capacitive touchscreen
- 5 megapixel primary camera with flash
- WiFi 802.11b/g
- GPS
- CDMA2000 EV-DO Rev. A

I’ve been holding off my cell phone upgrade for something more like this…now if they’d only start 4g lte servicing.
