Motorola Milestone is the first Android 2.0 GSM smartphone available in Europe and a few retailers in U.S.A. The Milestone is a quad band phone and can be used on any GSM network around the world.

According to UK online retailer eXpansys, the handset was sold out in a record time of 2.5 hours after it was listed as ’in stock’ on the website on December 10th. The craze for the Milestone was such that a week prior to the Motorola Milestone launch, the online retailer eXpansys received over 1,000 pre-orders.

The Milestone can be used with AT&T and T-Mobile, but it doesn’t offer the wireless frequencies used by either of these carrier’s 3G services. The phone has almost all the features of the original Droid except it doesn’t ship with 16 GB card like the Droid does.

The Motorola Milestone comes with features that includes:

  • Display 480 x 854 pixels, 3.7 inches
  • OS Android OS, v2 (Eclair)
  • CPU ARM Cortex A8 550 MHz processor
  • Messaging SMS, MMS, Email, IM, Push Email
  • Browser HTML
  • Radio No
  • Games Yes
  • Colors Black
  • GPS Yes, with A-GPS support

One of the best feature of the Milestone is the 60-day free trial of Motonav, the mapping software that turns the phone in to a sat-nav device on a par with the likes of TomTom and Garmin.

The exclusive online retailer for the Milestone, the eXpansys says it is expecting a second shipment of the Android 2.0 handset and will be available SIM free for £449.99.
