PhoneArena has revealed that HTC is working on a WiMax enabled Android handset for Sprint.

According to the portion of Sprint’s 2010 roadmap the HTC A9292 is one of the new devices set to release in 2010. However, Gizmodo points out that the series that starts with A are for devices reserved for Android Phones.

WiMax is still not very popular among mobile users and relatively untested so it will be interesting to see how consumers will react to the new WiMax Android phone from Sprint.

A WiMax enabled Android phone may prove a good idea for users who are more inclined towards browsing and streaming and hence give Sprint some space in the market already packed with Droids and Nexus.
