Garmin-Asus on Feb 11, 2010 has introduced their most anticipated Android based GPS phone named Nuvifone A50. The company with co-branded alliance between Garmin Ltd and ASUSTek Computer has also introduced their Windows Mobile OS based phone the Garmin-Asus M10.

The Garmin-Asus A50 profits from the personalization and improved features offered by the Android platform, and also includes Garmin navigation with turn-by-turn voice prompted directions for use in a car or while walking.

The elegant and thin A50 boasts features that include:

Screen: A 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display that supports iPhone style finger friendly zooming and panning.

Enterprise email capability: The Garmin-Asus A50 provides its users with on-phone sync with Microsoft Exchange server, with wireless synchronization of enterprise email, calendar and contacts.

Powerful Garmin GPS receivers:
The A50 receives its latitude and longitude data from multiple sources including satellite and terrestrial sources. The location data from more than one source ensure that A50 users get the best location and navigation experience a phone can offer.

Internet Browsing: The garmin A50 automatically identifies location information embedded within web pages allowing the user to quickly navigate to the locations published on the world-wide web. The A50 comes with the WebKit browser that supports multi-touch with fast online media streaming. The nuvifone A50 will provide full integration with many Google mobile services which include one-click access to Google Search by voice, Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube.

Camera: The 3 mega-pixel camera with auto-focus automatically geotags images with latitude and longitude information.

Memory: Includes 4GB internal storage plus an expandable microSD slot.

The Garmin-Asus nuvifone A50 is expected to hit the market in Europe in the first half of 2010, with no statement about US availability or price.

    Garmin GPS are the best, i accidentally dropped one on the pool and it is still functioning after a minor cleanup

    Now I don’t think GPS based phone will attract customers who are already getting the features on Nexus Prime and Droid Bionic along with many more exciting Android apps.
