PlanetBeing iPhone 4 Jailbreak: Spirit Of Comex To Bypass iOS 4 Patch

27 June 2010 No Comment

Planetbeing famous for his “Android on iPhone” hack has announced that he has managed to get root access on the iPhone 4 which literally mean he has managed to jailbreak the iPhone 4. It appears that the hacker has used the Spirit code from Comex to access the root which Apple has already patched on iOS 4.

The tweet from Planetbeing which confirms the iPhone 4 Jailbreak:

Think I’m the first one I know about to get a root shell (and SSH) on iPhone 4, using poor @comex’s code (since he has no iPhone 4).

Another tweet from Planetbeing updated two hours ago reads:

Had to restore my iPhone 4 and do it fresh and cleanly before I could do more with Cydia than look at the pretty UI. ;)

The latest from Planetbeing on iPhone 4 Jailbreak using Spirit from Comex:

Don’t want to speak for @comex, but afaik no one has breathed a word about release date and what we have right now is nowhere ready.

Musclenerd of iPhone Dev Team has posting the following picture of Cydia running on high resolution screen of iPhone 4. The tweet from the hacker reads:

Congrats to @comex for another userland JB http://is.gd/d5N6I <– hi-res Cydia via @planetbeing & @chpwn iPhone4s

The above activity confirms that the hackers have managed to Jailbreak the iPhone 4 but as the iOS 4.01 update is due within next few days so the expected Jailbreak will be released only after the iPhone 4 firmware updated.
