Google Earth has finally arrived with powerful 3D capabilities to the Android 2.1 powered phones like Google Nexus. Boasting some really smart features Google Earth supports only devices running Android 2.1 and up.

Google Earth, uploaded by the maker itself is now available in the Android Market and promises its users to provide the same quality images as is on the desktop version.

The features of Google Earth Android includes:

Voice search to find cities, landmarks, business, and places to get a 3D view of the surrounding area

Provides layered geographical information for roads, borders, places, and photos

Currently the app is not for Android 1.5 or 1.6 devices and only Nexus One owners have confirmed it to be available. Even the Motorola Droid, which runs Android 2.0.1 cannot use Google Earth.

1. Android OS: HTC Desire runs Android 2.1 operating system which is the same version that Google Nexus One uses.

2. Processor: Same Qualcomm 1 Ghz snapdragon processor on both the devices.

3. Camera: 5 meapixel with LED flash

4. Design: Both the phones look similar with curved design.

Why HTC Desire is better than Google Nexus One?

1. Sense UI: The HTC Desire with HTC Sense user interface is more appealing than native Android 2.1 UI on the Google Nexus. The HTC Sense comes with many widgets and integrated Social Networking services.

2. RAM: HTC Desire boasts 576 MB of RAM, which helps when running multiple applications, whereas the Google Nexus supports 512 MB of RAM, which is not bad but still is less than Desire.

3. Price: This is the most important factor which clearly make HTC Desire a better option. Google Nexus is currently available only through Google for which you will have to pay the full price, but you can get HTC Desire at a subsidized rate from the operators.

Samsung has launched its Bada ambition in a big way by launching its first phone the Wave S5800 with the new OS and a screen which the company called “Super AMOLED”.

The main features of Samsung Wave S8500 include:

BADA OS: In Korean language Bada means ocean and with the name company is trying to portray the potential its new OS will provide to the users as well as the developers. The list of features that make Bada different includes its integrated contacts list, which pulls in contacts from your web mail accounts, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter in a way that makes messaging to and from all these places quite integrated.

Screen: The screen on Samsung Wave S8500 measures 3.3-inches and has a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. The Super-AMOLED technology offers better brightness than traditional AMOLED displays and will perform well in sunlight. The S8500 screen also uses a tempered glass with an anti-smudge coating for better durability. The screen of S8500 also resists fingerprints just like the iPhone 3GS.

Processor: The S5800 boasts a 1GHz processor, which Samsung developed by itself and is similar in features to the Google Nexus One device.

Camera: A 5-megapixel camera that supports auto-focus and also includes LED flash.

Connectivity: The Bada based S8500 can access the Web using HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) at 3.6M bps or the 802.11n standard. The phone features the latest Bluetooth 3.0 standard. The combination of 802.11n and latest Bluetooth support is the first in any phone launched before.

Multimedia: The Samsung Wave multimedia feature includes support for DivX, Xvid, MPEG4 and WMV video, virtual surround sound, and 720p HD recording and playback. The phone also has a 3.5mm headset jack to enjoy to your music through.

Applications: Samsung now offers its own app store and praises a simple and open platform that developers can take advantage of. Currently, the Bada application store will have about 200 apps at the time of launch.

Battery: Wave S8500 with stunning screen and 1 Ghz processor also needed a good battery therefore Samsung has given this phone a huge 1.500 mAh battery.

Availability: No not for consumers in United States as the phone does not support all the frequencies and will not work on US and Canadian 3G networks. The Samsung Wave S8500 is expected to hit Asia and rest of the world in early April.

Samsung is expecting to sell more phones in 2010 as last year it has sold approximately 40 million touchscreen phones. The large consumer base will ensure that more app developers will develop new apps to cash in the number which will give Bada store more apps for its consumers.

Microsoft is going to release Windows Mobile 7 next month but if the most anticipated features are true missing then who in the world will buy a phone with this outdated OS.

The features that are reported to be missing from Windows Mobile 7 include:

1. No support for multitasking, if true then Windows Mobile 7 is useless for next generation applications and games.

2. No support for custom UI’s which means no TouchFLO or HTC Sense UI.

3. Apps only available via marketplace which will make already incomplete Microsoft marketplace a pain for users.

It will prove deadly for Microsoft’s mobile operating system venture if the company fails this time with Windows Mobile 7 as the market is already crowded with very smart open source operating systems.

HTC has designed and manufactured the Google Nexus and now its appears that the company has designed a phone for its own inventory with the same specs as that of Google Nexus One.

HTC Incredible is the name of the phone which the company is about to release to its customers in United States and HTC will market the same phone in Europe as HTC Bravo.

The HTC Incredible’s features that are similar to Google Nexus includes:

1. Touch Screen: Huge 3.7 inch touch screen and most probably a capacitive one for multitouch support.

2. Processor: The 1GHz Snapdragon and if I am not wrong then Google Nexus is also running on the same processor.

3. Camera: 5 megapixel with dual LED flash and so does Google Nexus.

4. Operating System: Android 2.1 but with much beautiful HTC’s Sense UI and here the Google Nexus takes the beating.

Here is the second most anticipated news after Apple iTablet, iPhone OS 4.0 features are now floating the internet and all the blogs are referring guys at Boy Genius Report.

Here is the list of iPhone OS 4.0 features according to BGR’s source:

There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)

“A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.

Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.

The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”

The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

There’s a good chance that even if you’re not into tech all that much, you’ve heard of the Motorola DROID thanks to Verizon’s big marketing push, and that’s a good and bad thing. The Palm Pre smartphone, along with the company’s much-anticipated webOS operating system, has had quite the buzz building up since its splashy launch in January. While the Pre isn’t perfect, it definitely does not disappoint.

Here is a detailed comparison of Motorola Droid and Palrm pre and will help you decide which one is the best.

1. Design:

Motorola Droid : It the functionalist, industrial ruggedness, expressed perfectly through glass and metal and unapologetic angles, in a powerful phone that’s remarkably streamlined. It measures 115.8 mm in length and 60 mm in width.

Palm Pre : The Palm Pre’s design is unlike that of any smartphone we’ve seen to date, but if we had to give a point of comparison, we’d say it somewhat resembles the HTC Touch. It’s a bit like a pebble, with its smooth, black, lacquered finish and rounded edges, and, like the iPhone, Palm keeps it simple by keeping external controls to a minimum.

2. Display

Motorola Droid: Droid’s 3.7-inch, 854×480 display with an eye-popping pixel density of 267ppi. It’s the clarity of the text that captivates.

Palm Pre : The 24-bit color HVGA display is vibrant and sharp with its 320×480-pixel resolution. Images, text, and Web pages all looked amazing. We have to say the Pre’s display is one of the main highlights of the phone. It measures 3.1 inches diagonally, so it’s smaller than the iPhone’s and some other touch-screen devices

3. Touchscreen

Motorola Droid: Touch response is mostly effective. When there are misfires, like getting no response when you flick your finger to pull out the app menu, it’s hard to tell if it’s the phone or the software—at least until more Android 2.0 phones are out there. However, no serious complaints.

Palm Pre : The capacitive (meaning it responds to the touch of a finger) touch screen is pretty responsive. There’s no haptic feedback, but white rings will appear around an icon or menu item to let you know that the screen has registered your touch. To scroll through lists, you can drag your finger along the screen or give it a quick flick to get through longer lists.

4. Keyboard

Motorola Droid: The QWERTY keyboard is okay but the key landscape is too flat and homogenous—a necessary sacrifice for Droid’s remarkable skinniness.

Palm Pre : The lack of a physical keyboard was a big reason why some people chose not to buy the iPhone. There will be those who argue that the iPhone’s onscreen keyboard is fine and just needs some getting used to, which is fair enough.

5. Operating System

Motorola Droid: Droid is a champion of possibilities for Motorola as well as Verizon. You can kind of think of it like a Super G1, laying out what it means to be an Android 2.0 phone, with powerful new processors and delicious new displays with sky-high resolutions.

Palm Pre : The Web OS is really where the Pre shines, and manages to create a coherent internet-based platform that’s even more “connected” than Google Android.Based on its ease-of-use and in particular the way multitasking and notifications are handled, Palm’s webOS has the best User Interface of all current mobile operating systems. WebOS uses for multitasking. Otherwise, the Pre borrows many of the UI ideas that we first saw on the iPhone

6. Camera

Motorola Droid: The camera is complete garbage. It takes 10 years to start up, 2 to focus, and another 4 to actually take the goddamn picture. And there’s no distinct visual feedback to let you know a photo’s been snapped. And the photos suck.

Palm Pre : It’s a 3-megapixel camera, but when it comes to actually taking pictures, it isn’t any better than the G2 or the iPhone. Like most cheap-o cameras, photos are fine with ample sunlight, but in low-light conditions pictures become grainy—even when using the “flash” on the back, it’s only barely tolerable.

7. Multimedia

Motorola Droid: There aren’t any major enhancements to the built in media player in terms of interface or functionality, which is not acceptable. The player does support MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI, and Windows Media Audio 9 formats and the player includes shuffle, repeat, and playlist creation. Unfortunately, there is no syncing software to help you manage and transfer your music. As it is right now, you have to use the old drag-and-drop method using the USB cable or sideload them using a microSD card.

Palm Pre: The Palm Pre has got a solid set of multimedia features. The built-in media player supports a number of formats: MP3, AAC, AAC+, WAV, and AMR music files and MPEG-4, H263, and H264 video formats. The music player offers basic functions: play/pause, track forward/back, and shuffle and repeat modes.

8. Memory

Motorola Droid: It has microSD card slot supporting upto 32 GB capacity and an 8GB card is included with the device.

Palm Pre : Pre does not feature an external memory slot which has been a design decision driven by the fact that it includes enough internal memory to satisfy the user. The handset comes with 8GB of internal memory storage, which can be used right out of the box, and it is considered to be a greater advantage than external memory.

9. Connectivity

Motorola Droid: It has a quad band GSM connectivity and dual band 3G connectivity. There is also common GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and USB connectivity but without infrared, HSCSD or FM Radio.

Palm Pre : The Palm Pre is outfitted with all the wireless options you could need. It works on Sprint’s EV-DO Rev. A network, which promises average download speeds of 600Kbps to 1.4Mbps and peak rates of up to 3.1 Mbps, and average upload speeds of 350 to 500 Kbps, peaking at 1.8 Mbps.

10. Battery Life

Motorola Droid: With moderate to heavy usage that includes browsing, some navigation, push Gmail, moderate app usage, with the occasional app running in the background—it managed to make through a full 8-12 hour day before recharging, each day for about a week, though some days were closer than others.

Palm Pre: Battery life is an issue and probably one of our biggest concerns. The Pre comes with a user-removable 1150mAh lithium ion battery with a rated talk time of 5 hours and up to 12 days of standby time. In lab tests the Pre delivered 5.25 hours of talk time. For multimedia, the smartphone offered 12.4 hours of continuous music playback in airplane mode with 3G turned off and 6.72 hours of video playback under the same conditions. With 3G turned on, the results were 10.5 hours for music and 4.7 hours for video
