G-Park: This app uses GPS to pinpoint and map where you parked your car. G-Park is optimized to work with iPhone 3G and 3GS. After parking your car hit on the Park Me button. Fans with iPhone can watch baseball match live regardless of whether iPhone is connected to a WiFi network or a 3G network. The MLB.com servers will detect the strength of the iPhone’s connection and adapt the quality of video accordingly. The application also has DVR features, so users can pause and rewind live games from their device. Users will have to pay just one time fee of $9.99 and then will be able to watch live out of market video streaming throughout the season on either WiFi or 3G.
There is a catch: for now, it only covers up to two games a day with blackout restrictions. For instance, the first two games are the Chicago White Sox-Chicago Cubs from Wrigley Field and the Detroit Tigers-St. Louis Cardinals at Busch in St. Louis. I’ll be able to watch the first one but should be blacked out of the second game because I’m in St. Louis this week. The plan is to open it all games, but still with blackout limits.
Price:
MLB At Bat 2009, which costs $10, is functional for the entire 2009 baseball season and postseason. And it’s a pretty good deal: comparable audio-streaming features from MLB.com cost $15, it’s $20 for a combination of live-audio and Gameday features, and live game video sells for $70 per year.
