BlackBerry maker RIM is planning to give its user improved design and user experience by hiring Don Lindsay a designer who worked at Apple and Microsoft.
Don Lindsay led what was called the “Mac OS X interface concept project” and directed the design team responsible for the user experience of Mac OS X 10.0 “Cheetah” through Mac OS X 10.3 “Panther,” which included the company’s first-generation of iLife digital lifestyle applications.

With the sales of netbooks expected to double (to 20 million units worldwide) in 2009, and Mac enthusiasts already shoehorning OS X onto existing netbooks, it stands to reason that Apple is paying attention. Apple is working with Taiwanese display manufacturer Wintek Corp. and the world’s largest notebook maker Quanta to assemble the new machines.

The New York Times is reporting that T-Mobile will be the first carrier to offer a mobile phone powered by Google’s Android software. And it will go on sale… soon!
Talk about anticipation. This is right up there with Apple’s introduction of the new iPhone, which, of course, is only appropriate since the two high-end phones will directly compete with one another in an Olympic-worthy battle.

The phone will be made by HTC, one of the largest makers of mobile phones in the world, and is expected to go on sale in the United States before Christmas, perhaps as early as October.

Once I picked it up, there was no going back. I plunked down by cash and started fooling around.
Here are the pros and cons as I see them. As of now, there is no PC sync, so this is not really intended as a substitute for a PDA . It appears that somebody should be able to code some kind of sync for the PIM programs that exist for the open source Maemo (Nokia’s brand of embedded Linux, which also was used on the N770) — however, I’m not sure whether such programs, with Mac OS X or Windows synching capabilities would match the gnu-ethos of this product.
